The Black Church

"For Such A Time As This"

The role of the Black Church in our communities is significant. It serves not only as a place of worship but also as a hub for support, activism, and cultural pride. The Black Church provides a safe space for individuals to gather and share their stories while leading the way in the pursuit of social justice. It has truly been a beacon of hope and resilience. I am grateful for its rich history and the profound impact it continues to have on countless lives!

the late Apostle Roger A. Grimes, Founder

Our Apostle left us these directives. He provided us with six straightforward but impactful guidelines to follow: pray, listen, believe, obey, trust God, and then leave the rest to GOD. It serves as a wonderful reminder to maintain our composure and let go of the things beyond our control. Together, let's embrace these steps! 💫

Conference Recap:

I promised the late Apostle Roger Allen Grimes not to cancel the Community of Champions conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, specifically designed for the black church in this pivotal moment. As someone who has attended every conference except one, I can confidently say that this has been the most outstanding experience to date. I would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Charlie and Sister Dee Rivens, as well as The Place Church family, for exceeding our expectations in every way. Appreciation is also extended to the Media Team, hospitality committee, the food preparation committee, the transportation committee, and the van driver for their tireless efforts. Furthermore, thank you to all attendees for participating in person and online. Thank you to everyone who gave financially. Special thanks to the praise and worship band, the praise team, and the jazz band for uplifting music at every service. To God be the glory for the incredible things He has accomplished. Hello, I am Apostle Donald DeJohnette, and I have been married to Lady Wanda DeJohnette for 45 years. We have two adult children: Evangelist Shanekia DeJohnette and Brandon DeJohnette. We are also blessed with eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

I hold a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Alcorn State University, a ministry degree from C.H. Mason Bible College in Memphis, Tennessee, and a master's degree in Education from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Currently, I am the leader of the Community of Champions Prayer Line, where I have been a member for about 14 years. Additionally, I am the founder and pastor of Friendship Church of God in Christ, a position I have held for 39 years. I plan to follow the guidance of the late Apostle Roger Grimes and "Go Forth In Ministry."
